Magic Arrow

Type Combat Basic Target enemy troop receives ([Power x 10] + 10) damage

Duration Instant Expert Target enemy troop receives ([Power x 10] + 30) damage

Protection from Fire

Type Combat Basic Damage from Fire Magic spells is reduced by 30% for allied troop
Cost 5 Advanced Damage from Fire Magic spells is reduced by 50% for allied troop
Duration 1 round/power Expert Damage from Fire Magic spells is reduced by 50% for all allied troops

 

Level Two

Blind

Type Combat Basic Target enemy troop is frozen until attacked.  Deactivating attack is retaliated at 50% of base Attack rating
Cost 10 Advanced Target enemy troop is frozen until attacked.  Deactivating attack is retaliated at 25% of base Attack rating
Duration 1 round/power Expert Target enemy troop is frozen until attacked.  Deactivating attack isn't retaliated

Fire Wall

Type Combat Basic A 2-hex-wide wall of fire is produced at target hex.  Wall inflicts ([Power x 10] + 10) damage
Cost 8 Advanced A 3-hex-wide wall of fire is produced at target hex.  Wall inflicts ([Power x 10] + 20) damage
Duration 2 rounds Expert A 3-hex-wide wall of fire is produced at target hex.  Wall inflicts ([Power x 10] + 50) damage

Visions

Type Adventure Basic Displays number of monsters in wandering stacks and possibility of joining Hero's army.  Range is equal to Power or 3, whichever is greater.
Cost 4 Advanced Same as Basic, can also view enemy hero's stats and army quantities.  Range is (Power x 2) or 3, whichever is greater
Duration 1 day Expert Same as Advanced, can also view enemy town's stats, garrison composition and populations.  Range is (Power x 3) or 3, whichever is greater

 

Level Three

Fireball

Type Combat Basic Troops in target hex and adjacent hexes take ([Power x 10] + 15) damage
Cost 15 Advanced Troops in target hex and adjacent hexes take ([Power x 10] + 30) damage
Duration Instant Expert Troops in target hex and adjacent hexes take ([Power x 10] + 60) damage
 

Land Mine

Type Combat Basic Land mines are placed in 4 random hexes.  Land mines cause ([Power x 10] + 25) damage when stepped on.  They are invisible except to troops on native terrain
Cost 18 Advanced Same as Basic except land mines are placed in 6 random hexes and land mines cause ([Power x 10] + 50) damage when stepped on. 
Duration Until Touched Expert Same as Advanced except land mines are placed in 8 random hexes and land mines cause ([Power x 10] + 100) damage when stepped on.

Misfortune

Level Four

Armageddon

Type Combat Basic All troops take ([Power x 50] + 30) damage

Berserk

Type Combat Basic Target attacks nearest troop.  All creatures in a 1 hex radius are affected
Cost 20 Advanced Target attacks nearest troop.  All creatures in a 7 hex radius are affected
Duration 1 round Expert Target attacks nearest troop.  All creatures in a 19 hex radius are affected

Fire Shield

Type Combat Basic 20% of melee damage protected allied troop receives is counter-inflicted on enemy attacker
Cost 16 Advanced 25% of melee damage protected allied troop receives is counter-inflicted on enemy attacker
Duration 1 round/power Expert 30% of melee damage protected allied troop receives is counter-inflicted on enemy attacker

Frenzy

Type Combat Basic Allied troop's Attack rating is increased by 100% of its Defense rating.  Defense is lowered to zero. 
Cost 16 Advanced Allied troop's Attack rating is increased by 150% of its Defense rating.  Defense is lowered to zero. 
Duration 1 round Expert Allied troop's Attack rating is increased by 200% of its Defense rating.  Defense is lowered to zero. 

Inferno

Type Combat Basic Inflicts ([Power x 10] + 20) damage on target hex and all hexes within 2 hexes
Cost 16 Advanced Inflicts ([Power x 10] + 40) damage on target hex and all hexes within 2 hexes
Duration Instant Expert Inflicts ([Power x 10] + 80) damage on target hex and all hexes within 2 hexes

Slayer

Type Combat Basic Target allied troop's Attack rating is increased by 8 versus Behemoths, Dragons, and Hydras.
Cost 16 Advanced Same as Basic, except that Attack bonus also affects Devils and Angels.
Duration 1 round/power Expert Same as Advanced, except that Attack bonus also affects Titans

 

Level Five

Sacrifice

Type Combat Basic Target non-undead troop is sacrificed (destroyed).  Then another target non-undead troop has ([Power + destroyed troop's creature base health + 3] x number of creatures sacrificed) in health points' worth of creatures returned to life
Cost 25 Advanced Target non-undead troop is sacrificed (destroyed).  Then another target non-undead troop has ([Power + destroyed troop's creature base health + 6] x number of creatures sacrificed) in health points' worth of creatures returned to life
Duration Permanent Expert Target non-undead troop is sacrificed (destroyed).  Then another target non-undead troop has ([Power + destroyed troop's creature base health + 10] x number of creatures sacrificed) in health points' worth of creatures returned to life

Summon Fire Elemental

Type Combat Basic Summons a stack  containing (Power x 2) of Fire Elementals.  Only 1 type of elemental can be summoned.
Cost 25 Advanced Summons a stack  containing (Power x 3) of Fire Elementals.  Only 1 type of elemental can be summoned.
Duration Battle Expert Summons a stack  containing (Power x 4) of Fire Elementals.  Only 1 type of elemental can be summoned.

 

Spell point costs can be modified in a variety of ways:

If a hero has the matching spell school secondary skill for that particular spell, there is a 1 spell point discount per level of the spell.

(1st level spells:   -1 spell point/ 2nd level spells:   -2 spell points/ etc)

If a hero is facing Pegasi on the battlefield, all spells will cost that hero an additional 2 spell points each.
If a hero has Magi or Arch Magi in his/her army, then all spells will cost that hero 2 spell points less.
